Dr. Gnana Sanga Mithra S. is an accomplished scholar in the field of Sociology, particularly specializing in Transgender Studies and Gender Studies. With a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and doctoral degree in Sociology, her academic journey reflects a deep commitment to understanding and advocating for marginalized communities. Throughout her career, Dr. Sanga Mithra has made significant contributions to research, with numerous papers published in prestigious Scopus Indexed journals. Her active participation in national and international conferences demonstrates her dedication to sharing knowledge and advancing the field.
Dr. Sanga Mithra has held various leadership positions, including roles in student unions and anti-harassment cells. Her exceptional contributions to her institutions have been recognized with awards, including the Star Performer Award from Loyola College and the Best Researcher Award from University Putra Malaysia. Her accolades further underscore her research prowess, including receiving the Raman Research Cash Award from VIT and being recognized as a Situational Leader in the educational sector by Ooruni Foundation, Chennai. Additionally, she has received the Best Presenter Award at an international conference organized by Curtin University, Dubai, highlighting her ability to effectively communicate her research findings.
Her expertise has been sought after by organizations such as the TN Forest Department, where she acted as a project consultant for a scheme funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency. Furthermore, Dr. Sanga Mithra’s research projects have been supported by seed grants from VMRF, demonstrating her capability to secure funding and carry out impactful research. She has an editorial role in the International Journal of Law and Society and is a reviewer for Frontiers and Taylor & Francis journals.
