Dr. Anuttama Ghose is an Associate Professor of Law at Vinayaka Mission’s Law School (VMLS), Chennai. She is presently pursuing a Postdoctoral Fellowship (in the area of Copyright Infringement and Enforcement Challenges on Open Access Platforms) from Tashkent State University of Law, Uzbekistan, under the Central Asian Legal Research (CALR) Fellowship Programme. She holds a B.A. LL.B. (IPR Hons.) from the School of Law, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, and an LL.M (in Innovation, Technology and Intellectual Property Rights) from Symbiosis Law School, Pune, India. She completed her Ph.D. in 2023 in the area of Non-Conventional Trademarks from School of Law & Justice, Adamas University, Kolkata. She has also completed the CopyrightX Course, conducted by Harvard Law School & the Berkman Klein Centre for Internet & Society at Harvard University, in 2023, and the Patent Law and Global Public Health “PatentX” course, conducted by Harvard Law School & the WIPO Academy in 2026. She has previously worked as an Assistant Professor of Law at the School of Law, MIT World Peace University, Pune, and served also as Vice Principal and Assistant Professor of Law at the Indian Institute of Legal Studies, Siliguri, West Bengal.
An active researcher, she has authored over 60 research papers, including 37 Scopus-indexed publications in leading national and international journals, including the Journal of Intellectual Property Law & Practice (Oxford University Press), Journal of Intellectual Property Rights (CSIR-NIScPR), Journal of Asian and African Studies (SAGE Publications), Padjadjaran Journal of Law (Indonesia), Brazilian Journal of International Law, Novum Jus (Colombia), Economic and Political Weekly (EPW), Manchester Journal of Transnational Islamic Law & Practice (UK), Cambridge Journal of Climate Research and International Annals of Criminology, Cambridge University Press. She has contributed scholarly chapters to edited volumes published by Springer Nature and IGI Global, and is also the Co-Editor of an upcoming Springer Nature volume titled Colonial Continuities, Global Shifts, and Digital Transformations in IPR: Insights from Asia. Her research spans a range of themes, including intellectual property law, traditional knowledge, copyright and AI, digital surveillance, refugee rights, and gender justice. She is also serving as a reviewer of various prestigious journals indexed in Scopus and WoS. Currently, she is also serving as Co-Principal Investigator of an ICSSR-funded major research project on women-led justice systems in India.
