Jharna Jagtiani

Assistant Dean-Internship and Placement

Ms. Jharna Jagtiani is a qualified lawyer and a certified mediator by the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. She is also a certified PoSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) Trainer and Enabler, conducting extensive training and awareness programs on PoSH compliance.

As an independent practitioner, she assisted start-ups and small to medium-sized enterprises in setting up internal management systems and consumer dispute resolution mechanisms. As an ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) practitioner, she has handled cases as a sole arbitrator and facilitated private mediations. As a legal consultant, she provided comprehensive legal solutions, supporting individuals, businesses, and firms in compliance, litigation, operations, contract reviews, research, and consulting.

In her former role as Assistant Professor at IFIM Law School, Bengaluru, she dedicated herself to nurturing the next generation of legal professionals. With over 15 years of experience, she brought a unique blend of legal expertise, training, and human resource management to her teaching. She mentored more than 25 students on academic and career matters, leading to over 30 student publications of legal articles and research papers. She also established a peer mentoring program, fostering collaboration and improving student retention. Additionally, she integrated career-related topics into the curriculum through legal writing workshops, negotiation skills training, and professionalism seminars to better prepare students for the job market.

She is a Mediation Coach at the Indian Merchant Chambers (IMC) for their "40 Hours Basic Mediator Training Workshop." She also serves as an Assistant Researcher and Mediation Trainer at Pravin Gandhi College of Law, Mumbai, for their "Certificate Programme in Conflict Resolution via Mediation." She was awarded the "Best Research Paper" title for her paper ‘6 Hats of Mediator’ at the National Youth Conference and has participated in the American Bar Association's Mediation Week and Arbitration Week.

Recently, she was recognized for her efforts in training, mentoring, and recruiting students in the field of sustainability and law at the "Think Sustainability Roundtable and Awards 2024." She was also honoured with the “Nari Shakti Samman Award” at the Jan'ki Conclave and Awards 2021–2022 for empowering women entrepreneurs by helping them launch, grow, and sustain their ventures.
