Distinguished Guest Lecture Series on the Law of the Sea

The VMLS Centre for Maritime Law recently hosted a distinguished Guest Lecture Series on the Law of the Sea, which took place on the 23rd and 26th of March, as well as the 3rd of April, 2024. These sessions were designed to provide our students with a comprehensive understanding of key aspects of maritime law, focusing on pivotal subjects that are crucial for anyone pursuing a career in this field.


Speaker Profile:

The lectures were expertly led by Mr. Suriya N Sundararajan, a Project & Research Support Fellow at the World Maritime University (WMU). Mr. Sundararajan is renowned for his extensive knowledge and experience in maritime law, and his insights added significant value to the educational experience of our students.

  • March 23rd: The history and development of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). This session provided a foundational understanding of UNCLOS, exploring its origins, evolution, and the key principles that govern international maritime law.
